Here's the situation we walked into - a gravel lot where a big portion of the rock had worked its way down into the ground over time. It happens more than you'd think. Traffic, weather, and just the natural settling process can bury gravel until it looks like bare dirt. Most people assume they need a full load of new material hauled in. That's not always the case.
Power raking is exactly what it sounds like - a process that agitates the surface and pulls buried rock back up where it belongs. No new gravel needed. Just the right equipment and the right process. We brought in our power rake, worked across the lot, and recovered the rock that was already there sitting just below the surface.
The before and after on this one tells the whole story. What started as a patchy, half-bare lot ended up with a solid, uniform gravel surface again. The Mt. Erie Fire Department's Station 2 lot went from looking neglected to looking like it should - clean, functional, and ready for use. It's the kind of result that saves real money when you don't have to order and spread new aggregate.
This is one of those jobs that a lot of people don't know is even an option. If your gravel driveway or lot is looking thin and worn down, power raking might be all you need before jumping straight to a full gravel renovation. We also handle driveway installation and renovation when new material genuinely is the right call - but we're not going to tell you to spend money you don't need to spend.
Glad to help out the Mt. Erie Fire Department on this one. These guys serve the community every day, and it was a good opportunity to give something back. If you've got a gravel surface that's looking rough, it's worth a conversation before you assume the worst.
