This one came from our Super Bowl power rake giveaway - and it was a job worth doing. The driveway had a curve where water was pooling and gravel was washing out every time it rained. That kind of problem doesn't fix itself. It just gets worse.
The issue was grade. When a driveway isn't pitched correctly, water has nowhere to go. It sits, softens the base, and carries your gravel right off into the grass. By the time most people call us, they've been dealing with it for a season or two already.
We came in, regraded the problem section, and cleaned everything up. The goal was simple - get water moving off the surface and away from the driveway instead of letting it sit and erode. That's what proper grading does. It's not a complicated fix, but it has to be done right or you're back to square one after the next hard rain.
The difference between before and after is pretty clear. The turn that was washing out now has a clean, consistent surface with proper drainage built in. Gravel is where it belongs. Water runs off like it should. That's what good driveway renovation looks like - not flashy, just functional and built to last.
A lot of driveways in Edwards County and across Southern Illinois deal with this exact problem. Rolling terrain and heavy rain events are tough on unpaved driveways. If yours is holding water, washing out, or just getting rougher every year, regrading is usually the first step - and often all it takes.
